  • Known as the largest park in Taipei City, DaAn Park has a total area of approximately twenty-six hectares. It was first established in 1994, and was planned as a forest park in metropolis.   • Located at the heart of Taipei City, was built to commemorate the former President Chiang Kai-Shek. Established in 1980, Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall has a total area of two hundred and fifty thousand square meters.   • Eslite Bookstore is one of the largest retail bookstore chains in Taiwan. It also provides one of the largest English language publications and translation materials in Taiwan.   • The Taipei Grand Mosque (TGM) was completed on April 13, 1960. Facilities include a reception hall, prayer hall, offices, a library, ablution hall. Muslims both foreign and local gather at the mosque on Fridays between 1:00-3:00 PM. Jumu'ah (Friday Prayer) is held between 12:30-1:40 PM. It is the largest and most famous mosque in Taiwan with a total area of 2,747 square meters. Located in the Daan district of Taipei City, it is Taiwan's most important Islamic structure and was registered as a historic landmark on June 26, 1999 by the Taipei City Government.

  • Taipei Holy Family Catholic Church was built in 1952 on Andong Street, making it the fourth church in the Taipei Archdiocese. In 1965, a church (a total of 661 square-meters in size) was completed on Hsinsheng South Road, a birds-eye view of which shows it to be built in the shape of a cross, standing 63 meters tall at its highest point and without pillars. The tent-like design of the building provides a space in which church members can reflect and pray, free from spatial pressure and visual obstacles. Taipei Holy Family Catholic Church is Taiwan Taipei municipal Daan region of a Catholic Church , as well as Taiwan's largest Catholic Church.

  • The Presidential Office was designed by brilliant Japanese architects, and its style is a combination of Renaissance, Gothic and Baroque. Its unique design made the Presidential Office a very unconventional building for its time.

    Celebration activities are held every year from the square in front of the Presidential Office all the way to Ketagalan Boulevard on National Day (October 10). Many assemblies and parades also take place here.

    If you are interested in the history and construction of the Presidential Office, make sure to make reservations by fax or the office’s website three days before your visit.Visitors can tour the office in the morning from Monday to Friday.

  • Yongkang Street is where the Taipei alley culture originated. It is also the quintessence of delicacies. Expanding from “Yongkang Park”, “Yongkang shopping district” is an area near Da’an Forest Park. As artists come to perform aperiodically, the place is immerse in artistic vibes. Since MRT Xinyi Line started operating, the delicacies and distinctive shops have become more accessible and are continuously attracting endless streams of tourists.

    Earlier, the stores in Yongkang shopping district are mostly local Taiwanese street vendors and restaurants like Ding Tai Feng, Tian Jing Flaky Scallion Pancake, Yongkang Beef Noodles, the mango snowflake ice of Smoothie House, etc. Later on, exotic cuisines, cafés, exquisite accessory shops, antique stores, grocery stores and select shops emerged in low-profile alleys and lanes in the area.

  • This market is situated at the intersection of Xinyi and Jinshan South Roads, which is considered one of the best parts of town. In its early days, the market was close to villages set up for military personnel and their dependents, and it thus was a natural shopping destination for these people.   • National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU),or Shīdà 師大, is an institution of higher education and normal school operating out of three campuses in Taipei, Taiwan. The university enrolls approximately 17,000 students each year. Approximately 1,500 students are international.

    Many buildings on the university's main campus date from the Japanese colonial period, including the Administration Building, the Lecture Hall, Wenhui Hall and Puzi Hall. Japanese civil engineers incorporated features of the Neo-Classical, Gothic and Gothic Revival styles often encountered on European university campuses. A room in the Lecture Hall housed the traditional Japanese document that authorizes and formalizes campus construction.

  • The 6.6-hectares Songshan Cultural and Creative Park in Taipei’s Xinyi District was completed in 1937 as the Songshan Tobacco Factory, which was one of the seed companies of a monopoly system mandated by the Taiwan Governor-General Office.The premises were one of Taiwan’s pioneers of modern industry, as well as the first professional tobacco plant.A gracefully simple Japanese modernist structure, the factory features meticulously crafted face cams, glasswork and bronze nails that made it arguably a “model factory” at that time.

    In 2001, the Taipei City Government named the tobacco factory the city’s 99th historic site and converted it into a park comprising city-designated historic sites (namely the office building, the 1st to 5th warehouses, cigarette plant and boiler room), historic structures (the inspection room, a machinery repair shed and a nursing room) and architectural highlights (the Baroque-style garden, an ecologically landscaped pond, a public bath and a multi-purpose auditorium).For more efficient reuse of space, the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park was built on the historic site as a production base for designers and cultural & creative businesses, as well as a venue for performances and exhibitions.The park introduced to its premises a Taiwan Design Museum and TMSK through partnerships with the Taiwan Design Center and prestigious Taiwanese glasswork label LIULI GONG FANG, respectively, besides a snack bar that was converted from the machinery repair shed.

  • This majestic Chinese modern style building is located on the east side of Taipei. The National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall was completed in 1972, and was built at the time of Dr. Sun’s 100th birthday in order to commemorate Dr. Sun and his achievements and beliefs.

    During the day time, from 9 am to 5 pm, a ceremonial officer will lead guests and tourists in paying their respects to Dr. Sun’s statue prior to the hourly changing of the guard ceremony.

    Afterward, visitors can enjoy the ceremony performed by rotating honor guard personnel of the Republic of China.The lush Zhongshan Park has long been a perfect spot for residents and tourists to relax and view the Taipei 101 building.

  • You can see the cloud-piercing Taipei 101 building from every corner in Taipei. Taipei 101 is the most dazzling landmark in Taipei. Standing tall at 508 meters, Taipei 101 was completed in 2004 and was the tallest building in the world at that time. In 2011, Taipei 101 received the LEED Green Building Platinum Certification, which has made it the tallest green building in the world.

    When you are here, apart from taking pictures, shopping, and enjoying the delicious food in the sky restaurant on the 85th floor, please don’t forget to visit the Observatory on the 89th floor to enjoy a spectacular view of the city.

    First, purchase tickets at the shopping center on the 5th floor for a high-speed elevator ride that will take you to the Observatory on the 89th floor in a short 37 seconds. Once there, you can see the huge “tuned mass damper”—the first of its kind to be shown to the public—which is a massive golden yellow ball that can effectively reduce the degree of shaking during earthquakes or strong high-altitude winds.

    At night, please don’t forget to enjoy the colors displayed on Taipei 101, which include all the colors of the rainbow and are different every day. Monday is red, Tuesday is orange, and so on. The walls of the building will also display special messages or pictures during major holidays.
